FOUR Scottish bands have been announced for next month's Download Festival Pilot.

VUKOVI, Bleed From Within, Twin Atlantic and Lotus Eater will perform on the Saturday of the three-day event.

Download organisers were given the green light to host a 10,000-capacity event from Friday to Sunday, June 18-20.

Headliners were today confirmed as Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Enter Shikari and Bullet for My Valentine.

In addition to the four Scottish bands heading down for the festival, other bands booked include Creeper, Stone Broken, Yonaka, Those Damn Crows, Skindred, Lonely the Brave and Massive Wagons.

Attendees will be required to provide negative Covid tests before entering the site, but will not be asked to socially distance or wear face coverings.

Those who happen to test positive before entering will be refunded.

Those who have purchased tickets for Download 2022 will have "first dibs" on the pilot event tickets.

Post-festival testing will play a major role in assessing the safety of the event and attendees will be asked to co-operate to best serve the pilot.

All purchases will be for the full weekend - day tickets will NOT be available.

Food and drink will be available, though attendees can bring some of their own, albeit limited.

A statement from organisers read: "...We couldn’t be more hyped to announce that we will be running a pilot event as part of the second phase of the Government’s Event Research Programme. It’s gonna be a 10,000 capacity camping festival in Donington Park.

"Everybody on site will have taken a lateral flow test before entry and received a negative result and will have taken a PCR test too. That means you’ll be able to mosh, dance, hug your fellow Downloaders, and rock out without a mask or social distancing. Frankly, we can’t think of anything that sounds more awesome after 15 months away from our hallowed ground."

The statement added: "We’ve missed all our Download fam so much and can’t wait to see you all again. This is going to be epic!"
