DOVV are preparing to unleash their festival-ready second single Summer later this week.

Expectations were raised following the release of debut track Backstreets of Your Mind, with a sophomore track eagerly-anticipated.

The new track will be released on Friday, June 4, and is shaping up to be the soundtrack to all manner of summer shenanigans.

David Stevens the band's frontman, also known for his Oskar Braves exploits, wrote the song three years ago with Grant Allan, currently of Kings Klub.

Shortly before the release of Backstreets of Your Mind, Stevens told The Weekender that Dovv would have a embarrassment of riches to chose from when it came to their next release.

"It has been crazy trying to choose between them all," he says. "But I had my heart set on Summer.

"This will be a positive summer for us all, hopefully. I didn't want to release anything too early, it's good to keep people thinking.

"Summer is the track for coming into 2021, filled with carry on, and has the energy of the main stage at any festival. It's built for lager, carry on, melon bombs...it's the sound of the Summer!"

Stevens is hoping the track will reach the same heights as the band's debut track, which turned heads with its release last year.

He says: "It certainly seems to have gone down well Backstreets of Your Mind stormed through when it was released and there were so many people loving it.

"That's is exactly what I was looking for with the debut single: one of those tunes you struggle to get out of your head."

Stevens paid tribute to his Dovv bandmates Ben Sharp (bass/backing vocals), Lewis Moncur (guitar/backing vocals) and Hamish Ward (drums). Summer also benefits from the services of Hamish Finlayson, of Dancing on Tables, who played on the track as well.

"I couldn't do it without my boys," Stevens says. "I have started taking bookings again for shows, with talks of a tour nearer the end of the year. It's beginning to shape up nicely!

"There will be more music before the year is out, for sure. As for shows, there is plenty coming, I will be playing everything and anything I am offered."
