WHAT did we do to deserve swim school? No, really...

At first, they making waves with some tremendous pop bops, but then they turn around and deliver something with a bit more bite this year.

First, the quartet unveiled let me inside your head, with follow-up outside on its heels. On such evidence, it fair to say the band are on a rich vein of form which shows no signs of abating.

While we are all wondering what swim school have up their sleeves, the band – Alice Johnson, Billy McMahon, Lewis Bunting and Matt Mitchell – slide into the confession box to discuss their 7 Deadly Tunes with The Weekender.

SLOTH – What tune makes you want to sit back and do nothing forever?

Lewis: "I’ve mentioned this album in pretty much every interview we’ve done but it has got to be Conrad by Ben Howard. I Forget Where We Were is honestly the most beautiful album I’ve ever heard and Conrad is for sure the best track on that album. It’s such a relaxing song, perfect for chilling out."

WRATH – What tune makes you want to absolutely wreck the hoose?

Billy: "Shattered Faith’ by VLURE. We absolutely love VLURE , this song is the perfect tune for hyping everyone up. I can totally see this band playing this song in a small dark venue with the crowd and everyone going mental – it’s that type of song and I love it!"

LUST – What tune do you NEED in your life right now?

Lewis: "I’ve been listening to In Undertow by Alvvays non-stop recently. I don’t really know why recently I’ve listened to it so much, I just feel like it really inspires me to pick up the guitar and try and write something – so I guess you could say it’s my motivational song."

GLUTTONY – What tune can you not get enough of?

Alice: "I think I speak for us all by saying Smile by Wolf Alice. When we’re together in our studio we always play this song through the speakers first when we’re chilling together. To me it’s the perfect Wolf Alice song; I just love the different genres this band work with; it’s a totally different vibe to The Last Man on Earth which was the single before Smile."

GREED – What tune makes you want to hear more and more from that band?

Alice: "Probably the most recent single Wolf Alice put out No Hard Feelings just because we don’t know what we’re in for next! Other than Wolf Alice, as we mentioned before we love VLURE and we can’t wait to hear what they do next."

PRIDE – What tune are you most proud to have written?

Alice: "I think my favourite song we’ve written has got to be let me inside your head. Lyrically, it’s one of my favourite pieces of work I’ve done, I feel like the meaning behind the song is very important and relevant – it means a lot to me for sure."

ENVY – What tune/chorus/verse/solo/lyric do you wish you had written?

Matt: "When The Sun Hits by Slowdive to me is the perfect shoegaze song. This band holds a lot of memories for me and it’s one I always go back to – it’ll never get old to me."
