FRASER DUNCAN was delighted with his players’ efforts as they came agonisingly close to a stunning victory over Broxburn Athletic.

Sauchie took the lead three times, but despite going 4-3 up with a few minutes to go they were pegged back again by an agonising late equaliser.

However, the manager lauded his side’s display as they played their part in a crazy Super League encounter.

Duncan told Advertiser Sport: “I can’t give enough credit to the lads because on Saturday they were absolutely superb.

"We did really, really well because Broxburn are one of the form teams in the league. Despite that I thought we did enough to win it and definitely deserved more out of the game.

“We matched them throughout the game and we were definitely the better side.

“It felt like a defeat after losing the goal right at the end. It was just one of those mental games. It was wide open.

“To go there and come away with a point is really pleasing but when you look back at how close we were you do feel a bit disappointed. But it’s good to get another point on the board.”

Duncan was particularly pleased with his side’s goal threat, and after they scored ten goals in their last two games, the manager was full of praise for a side playing with plenty of attacking verve.

He said: “We are scoring goals all over the park just now. Ten goals in two games is brilliant.

"We are doing really well in front of goal at the minute and goals are coming from all over the pitch. I’m delighted with the way we’re playing and I’m delighted that we’re scoring goals.”

Sauchie’s next fixture sees them take on Linlithgow Rose on Saturday, and Duncan reckons they will be just fine if they continue to approach games with the same mentality.

He added: “They will be looking for a reaction after losing heavily to Bonnyrigg.

"They will want to put that right, but we have just got to go into it with the same mindset as last Saturday. If we do that we will be quite happy.

"We need to work a bit on how we’re going to shut them out. If we do that and keep scoring at the other end I will be happy.”
