FRASER DUNCAN says his Sauchie players never got going as they suffered a second successive defeat at the hands of struggling Carnoustie Panmure.

The manager slammed the Beechwood Park side’s performance, and although some key men were missing, he insisted that he won’t be using that as an excuse.

He warned his players that they will need to fight for every point as they look to make absolutely sure of their Superleague survival.

Duncan told Advertiser Sport: “We never got ourselves going again, and that’s now two weeks on the trot where the performance has been really worrying.

"It wasn’t good enough and we need to get ourselves lifted. I’m very disappointed because it sets us back a bit.

“I’m not saying it draws us into the relegation fight because I think we are well clear of it, but we have to be careful over the next few weeks and put some points on the board.

"In the last two games you’d think with the way we’ve been playing that we’d have a certain six points. but it just shows you that this league isn’t like that.

"You’ve got to go out and earn every single point, and in the last two games we haven’t done that."

He added: “We had a couple of boys missing. Darren Cummings and Terry Hewitt were both out, but you still expect the players to go about their business in the right way.

“We didn’t do that and we need to get it sorted. The players didn’t do what they were instructed to do and gave Carnoustie the chance to get into the game.”

Duncan is expecting a big reaction from his players as they face Bo’ness and Camelon this week, but with a squad ravaged by injuries, he admitted it won’t be an easy task.

He said: “The boys need to lift themselves because we have two massive games this week. We need a big reaction at Bo’ness and then at home against Camelon on Saturday. From those games we need to pick up four points at the very least.

“Daz will be alright but Terry could be struggling. He’s a massive loss.

"Iain Syme isn’t 100 per cent fit and a couple of the other lads are struggling with a virus so we want to get those cleared up as soon as possible.”

Games are now coming thick and fast for Sauchie, and the manager wants his players to show marked improvement over the busy period.

Duncan added: “We’ll have games every three or four days so the next few weeks is a busy time for us.

"We need to go out and get points on the board and that’s what we’ll be trying to do this week.

"But it will need to be a massive improvement going into the Bo’ness game.”
