SCOTT TAGGART said Alloa's performance on Saturday wasn't good enough but added the alarm bells aren't ringing.

Clyde defeated the Wasps 2-1 on a day where no Alloa player could say they were at their best.

Taggart said: "We didn't seem to get going at all. It wasn't good enough, we all know that. But, we get ourselves back in the game and should see it out.

"For as bad as we played [on Saturday], we should be coming away with a point and moving on to the next week.

"It wasn't good enough from the start, [we] couldn't get going, Clyde were a wee bit better than us on the day. Second half we were a bit better, we controlled the game a bit more but a bad result overall."

Asked if the change in personnel had anything to do with it, Taggart disagreed.

He said: "It's not got to do with formation, I think as a team we were maybe on it last week [against East Fife] from the start but we started the game [on Saturday] very poorly. It's got nothing to do with the fact Churchy [Daniel Church] wasn't playing, it was just a bad day at the office."

Taggart continued: "You get yourself back in the game, we're on the ascendency, we're well on top. A couple of half chances, I don't remember their goalie making any good saves.

"Don't get me wrong some of their guys made some good blocks at the end but to get sucker-punched with that, there must have been a couple of minutes left and you try your best [to get back in it] but they just see the game out."

The defender was involved in a heated exchange of words with keeper David Hutton but insisted it's part of being a team.

"That's just football," he said. "You say some things and move on. He had his opinion and I had mine.

"No sweat off my back and he's absolutely the same; you want to win so if it means I need to shout at someone, someone needs to shout at me or the other guys it's no problem."

Despite losing two out of three, Taggart says there's no major cause for concern.

He added: "It's still early doors, I don't think any alarm bells are ringing. We go again next week and try to get the three points.

"It's still early days, we know it wasn't good enough. We know we can do it, that's the thing.

"It's a tough league, on any given day anyone can put a shock in. It happened to us today but I think that was partly our fault.

"It's just trying to go on a run, that's the main thing. The most consistent team as always wins the league.

"Too many draws, you want to win and you could see that, we were trying our best to do that and then they sucker punch us at the end."
