ADAM KING believes Saturday’s draw with Queen’s Park was a chance for three points missed as he rued a golden chance that fell his way.

Alloa’s winless league streak continued as Kevin Cawley’s equaliser cancelled out Connor Smith’s first-half wonder strike.

King, speaking exclusively to Advertiser Sport, said: “It’s a frustrating one because I think we probably deserved the three points, especially in the second half.

“The boys have worked hard the whole game, I think everyone can see that and there was spells when we showed our quality with balls into the box and chances, myself missed a couple, so I felt it was a chance for three points missed.

“It’s a difficult one to take as we felt we should have had all three points.”

“Absolutely,” King replies when asked if he felt it was two points dropped rather than a point won. “Even just sitting in the changing room at the end there the boys are disappointed.

“I think we’re just trying to find that level of consistency as well with picking up points. Although they had a lot of possession I thought we were always in control of the game.

“First half it’s a wonder strike for the goal; we’ve had a really well worked goal as well. We had chances, myself especially, and you’ve got to take them.

“It’s going to haunt me; it just dropped to me quickly, I should have done better with it.

"It’s just one of those things that happens in a split second but it’s something to work on.

"I think we just need the rub of the green. I think our luck will change soon and we’ll be taking three points from games like this.”

King is adamant the club have the quality to be higher in the league table and the results will come.

He continued: “We showed in the first half [against Montrose] and then again today the level we can play at so it’s just about getting results and that consistency, getting points on the board and getting to where we think we should be in the league with the squad that we’ve got.”

Next up is a break from league duty as Celtic come to town and King insists Alloa aren’t just there to make up the numbers.

He said: “Big day, Scottish Cup. All the boys are really looking forward to it, should be a really good day for all involved with the club.

“We’re going to go out and show what we can do and hopefully get a result as well. it’s all about competing and we – whoever comes here or wherever we go – we’re looking for results whether that’s the league or cup.

“That goes back to [Saturday] where the boys are disappointed we didn’t get the three points but we’re looking forward to next week and hopefully we can do the business.”
