IT WASN’T to be the dream debut that Blaise Riley-Snow would have hoped for but the first arrival of the January transfer window believes he’s already seen enough to convince him Alloa can still salvage this season.

Riley-Snow arrived on loan from Raith Rovers last week and only had one training session with his new team before finding himself starting in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat away to Clyde.

However, the midfielder feels the team have the talent to turn the season around.

Speaking exclusively to Advertiser Sport, Riley-Snow said: “I thought we had a lot of chances.

“We showed some good stuff, some positive stuff, but we just need to finish our chances which we couldn’t do.”

Alloa’s first half performance was woeful, the second 45 minutes were better.

“It was definitely worse,” he continued. “But we still had some spells of good play in the first half.

“We went in after the first half and the gaffer told us it wasn’t acceptable so we all raised it.”

Stefan Scougall scored a late consolation goal but unfortunately it was too late.

Riley-Snow continued: “It took us so long to get that goal but we definitely deserved it. [It was] thoroughly deserved but it just came too late.”

The midfielder showed what he can bring to the team with some decent passes and a strong presence in the middle of the pitch, but he wants to add more.

He continued: “I like to be solid in midfield and keep things moving, keep it going. But I feel I can still add a bit more.

“A couple of times I drove with the ball, I want to start doing that more, maybe get on the goal sheet. I definitely can score goals, I’m looking to do that here.”

Riley-Snow knew Alloa was the place to come thanks to the glowing recommendations from former Wasps now plying their trade for Raith Rovers.

He said: “There was a few players at Raith who told me this was a very good club and have been here on loan before; Kyle Benedictus, Dario Zanatta. Liam Dick who used to be here. Jamie MacDonald too.

“They all said it was definitely a good place to come.”

Riley-Snow only had one session before the Clyde match but knows there’s enough talent in the team to start picking up positive results, starting with this Saturday’s trip north.

He continued: “There's a lot of talent, there’s a lot of good players so we just need a good result to get us kicking.

"We just have to go and do what we can to win. I’m sure we can. I believe in the boys.

"I’ve played against Alloa for Raith [earlier in the season]. Raith didn’t win [in 90 minutes], it wasn’t an easy game so definitely, Alloa have [the] ability."
