MARK DURNAN says he is frustrated at missing a big opportunity against East Fife as Alloa didn't show enough character.

The Wasps fell 3-1 to bottom of the table side East Fife on Saturday despite taking the lead three minutes in thanks to Durnan's headed effort.

Speaking to Advertiser Sport after his side's disappointing loss, Durnan said: "We got off to a good start with the goal, from there we just never got going whatsoever we didn't do what we work on, didn't show enough bravery, get on the ball, work hard, felt we were second to most things and it showed in the end.

"It's very frustrating obviously the fans will be very frustrated all we can keep doing is try work hard and hope that we go to Dumbarton next weekend [and] it's going to be a scrap its going to be a fight and the manager said who's ready as it didn't show anybody was ready today, so we need to stand up now and show a set of cajones."

Durnan gave away a penalty in which East Fife scored and equalised in the first half.

Reflecting on the penalty, Durnan added: "I'll hold my hands up; I'm at fault. You can argue that it's soft, or whatever, but it's still given, so it's obviously disappointing

"But from there we don't really show enough character as a team, as individuals, and I think East Fife did – they deserved to win that."

Speaking about his goal Durnan, continued: "I just wish I was here standing buzzing that I scored, but more importantly we need three points we want three points we want to be going away at the weekend enjoying playing football, but it's very frustrating all-round for everybody.

"When asked if he is still enjoying playing football Durnan said: "You're not enjoying it if you're not winning that's part parcel of why you play football you play football to try and win games it's not like we're not going out there to try and win that's what we're wanting to do.

"I wouldn't say the enjoyment is gone away, but when you're not winning you should be disappointed, we should be going away tonight realising that's a big opportunity there and we've missed it.

"We just need to go again, and everybody needs to pick everybody up. We go again, and we try and get a result next week away to Dumbarton."
