ALLOA manager Brian Rice made two late deadline day loan signings as he looks to push the Wasps up the league table.

Earlier this week the club announced the signings of forward Ross MacIver signed from Partick Thistle and goalkeeper Peter Morrison who joins from Motherwell.

Rice told Advertiser Sport: “They fit in with what we’re trying to do, and we needed a goalkeeper.

“We’ve only got Hutts [David Hutton] at the moment and the two young boys and with the Covid situation at the minute and going into a crucial last nine games we needed cover.

“It’s up to me to decide who plays but there will be two capable goalkeepers now.”

He added: “Ross McIver is a lad I seen a lot as a kid coming through the Ross County youth system.

“He always caught my eye. He just adds something up front as well and I wanted to get a striker in because I wanted to send a message [of] we’re going to try and win games.

“My philosophy is to go and try and win games and bringing in another striker sends that positivity message right through the team.

“I want competition for places all round. Conor Sammon played very well on Saturday, Boydy [Steven Boyd] done very well alongside him and we’ve got Euan Henderson coming back as well.

“But I wanted to add another to give us competition because the more strikers you’ve got the more options you’ve got to go and win games.”
