YOUNG Stirling footballers have secured their first piece of silverware at the weekend.

On Sunday morning, the U14s Stirling Albion Junior Academy Girls team secured the trophy after winning the SWF Central League Plate 2023 at Little Kerse with a closely fought contest against Dunipace.

Stirling Albion went 1-0 up with a great strike from Isla Stevenson but Dunipace levelled the score with a deserved equaliser before half time.

It was a tough contest in the second act with goalkeeper Heather McAulay called into action to make some fantastic saves for Stirling.

A long-range effort from Allana Stevenson crept in to give Stirling the lead again but Dunipace were able to level the score to set up a tense finish.

With just minutes to go, the ball broke to Isla Stevenson who did not hesitate to rifle a terrific strike into the net to give Stirling a 3-2 lead.

The girls managed to see out the game to secure the trophy.
