Scougall still feels at home after joining Alloa 100 club

The midfielder marked a centenary of appearances for Alloa Athletic as he came off the bench against St Johnstone on Saturday.

He crossed the milestone after replacing fellow long-term servant Kevin Cawley in the Viaplay Cup group stage match.

Scougall signed for Alloa in October 2020 after a year with Carlisle United and has also featured for the Saints, Sheffield United, Livingston and Fleetwood Town.

Speaking to Advertiser Sport, Scougall said he was delighted to reach this landmark appearance and looked forward to more.

“A hundred appearances is pretty good," he said. “Obviously, I’m a bit disappointed about the result but nonetheless it’s always to reach a landmark like this.”

Over the past few months, several other players have reached huge milestones for the club including Andy Graham who recently made his 250th appearance.

Alongside him stands Scott Taggart and Jon Robertson, whilst Kevin Cawley stands head and shoulders above them all with 11 seasons under his belt for the Wasps.

“It’s a well-run club here,” Scougall added. “Everyone who runs the club are thoroughly nice people and everyone enjoys their time here.

“It’s an environment that you enjoy which is why you have people like Andy [Graham], Scott Taggart and Jon [Robertson] who have been there a long time.

“You enjoy the environment that you’re in and then enjoy going into training.”

The Viaplay Cup is well underway for Alloa and they look to play their fourth group stage against Ayr this Saturday.

Scougall said the club will be looking to go one step further than last season as they chase promotion.

He said: “Hopefully, we’ll be able to go one better than last year.

“We’ll go about our work pretty quietly and work as hard as possible – put as many points on the board that we can and see where it takes us.

“After being in the playoffs last year, we want to be aiming for that as minimum so fingers crossed we can go there and do one better.”
