THERE was an excellent turnout at an Alloa bowls club for an annual invitational competition recently.

Patons and Baldwins Bowling Club held the Invitation Pairs competition earlier on Saturday, July 8, on what was a great day for all involved.

John Blake, club secretary, said: “After a great day of bowls in good weather the annual Invitation Pairs competition was won this year by Gordon McCallum, the club president, and Daniel Kirk of Alloa East End Bowling Club.

“The competition is generously sponsored every year by Roy & McIntyre Funeral Home and Steven McIntyre was on hand to present the winners with their prizes and the trophy."

The day started at 10am and all games consisted of five ends, including the semi-finals and the final, with each pair playing five section games before each section winning pair and the highest-up second placed pair went into the semis.

The runners up were Amy Thomson and Jim Flanagan with a big well done going to all who took part on what was a “fantastic day”.
