THE chairman of Sauchie Juniors has announced he will be stepping down from his role due to personal reasons.

Karl Rennie informed the club he will be leaving his position, with Sauchie sharing a post thanking him for his efforts.

Speaking to the club, Rennie looked back on a great tenure at the helm of Sauchie Juniors, wishing them success for the future.

He said: “I have very much enjoyed my time at the club and working with the other dedicated committee members to help get the club to where it is today.

“I wish them and the club every success for the future however, due to personal reasons, it is time for me to step down.”

Rennie has been the chairman of the club during some difficult times – the Covid-19 pandemic being one of them.

In 2020, he joined movements for the return of fans to Beechwood Park and called for more support to be given to lower league football clubs.

Sauchie manager Fraser Duncan was full of praise for the outgoing chairman, citing him as having a pivotal role in his development as a manager.

He told Advertiser Sport: “Karl has done a fantastic amount of work at the club and he has been superb since he came in.

“In that time, we’ve been through around 10 or 12 projects that have taken the clubs years to get to but we’ve managed to do them all.

“Karl has come in and we’ve worked tremendously hard alongside him and he’s been great with us.

“He’s a great guy and we can only thank him for what he’s done for the club. Going forward, he’s definitely helped me as the manager of the club and made it a lot easier.

“I can only thank him and wish him all the best for the future.”

Robbie McKenzie will step in as the temporary chairman, until a new permanent chairperson can be appointed.
