CREE CONNELL was on red-hot form on Sunday as she fired Alloa ahead twice to win their match against Rossvale Development.

Connell's brace helped to continue Alloa’s unbeaten run in the League, which now stands at four games.

Speaking to Advertiser Sport after the match, Connell said she was delighted to be able to help the team on Sunday.

She said: “I’ve been in centre half since the start of the season and Sunday was my first time getting back up the park.

“It was good to score the goals and lift the team’s spirits again, especially when Rossvale got their goal right after us.”

Connell latched onto a corner sent in by skipper Abbie Trotter and her composed header found the back of the net to give Alloa the advantage going into half-time.

After the break, Rossvale immediately got themselves back into the game and scored as the second half kicked off.

Alloa kicked on, however, and Cree powered home another fantastic header to restore Alloa’s lead.

Connell reflected on the season so far, citing the challenges they’ve faced but praising the team for how they’ve responded.

“It’s been challenging for sure,” she said. “We’ve had a lot of new players in so it’s all about building confidence and gel as a team.

“It’s a full new team this season and we’ve got old players coming back in. It’s been a rollercoaster but we’ve settled in and are getting there.”

Alloa next play Harmony Row at home in the League Cup this Sunday.
