TAYLOR STEVEN was the man of the hour as he smashed home his first senior goal of his career to seal three points for Alloa.

Steven scored the Wasps’ third goal against Kelty to truly put the game to bed, with goals also coming from Brad Rodden and Scott Taggart.

This was the youngster’s first goal for Alloa since signing on loan from St Johnstone and his first senior goal of his career so far.

Speaking to Advertiser Sport after the match, Steven said it was a great feeling to get his first goal and was already looking forward to scoring more.

“Yeah, it was a good feeling,” Steven said. “I’m just happy to get the win and put in good team performance.

“I needed that goal, it was a good boost of confidence. I’m looking to get going again next week.

“It was my first senior goal, I needed it. I’m very happy to go and get that.”

Steven’s first goal for Alloa was a long time coming, with him almost scoring within the first 20 minutes of the match.

He caught onto a cross from Steven Buchanan and attempted to send it into the bottom corner, forcing a good save from Kelty’s Kyle Gourlay.

However, he made no mistake later in the match. Buchanan again sent a ball into the box, it was palmed in front of goal by Gourlay, falling in front of Steven who smashed it home.

His goal put the match to bed, allowing Alloa to defend their lead for the last 10 minutes and sealing a huge three points going forward.

Steven added: “I thought we weren’t great today, they had a lot of the ball. We scored at a good time to make it 3-1 and that put the game to bed with just 10 minutes left.

“This was definitely a much needed three points. It’ll be a tough game next week but all we can do is try our best and try and get three points.”

Alloa pay a visit to the Falkirk Stadium next week as they take on the league leaders and will be looking to build on this huge win.
