ANDY GRAHAM has confirmed Alloa will not be looking into the January transfer market, should they retain all of their loan players.

Alloa currently has a squad of 26 first team players, not including Luke Rankin and Nathan Cannon who are on loan at other clubs.

This makes up one of the biggest squads of League One and with several key players returning from injury over the coming weeks, Graham reaffirmed he would not be entering the transfer market unless his hand was forced.

“I’m really happy with the squad,” Graham said. “There won’t be anybody coming in unless somebody leaves.

“I would never stand in any player’s way if they wanted to play football and they’re not getting that game time at Alloa, I’d never stand in their way over that.

“As a player, I completely understand where they’re coming from but likewise, I’m happy with what’s currently in the dressing room.

“When you go and play three teams above you in the league as we’ve done and produced the levels of performance we’ve put in, that says a lot about this group of players.

“That’s what I’m focused on right now. It would need to be a case of people would need to leave before I would consider bringing anybody into the squad.

“The squad is very big for part time level, I’m not actively looking to bring anyone in unless there’s movement in the squad.

“Obviously, we’ve got a couple of loan deals so you never know what’s going to happen with them, that’s down to their parent club.

“We know that we want to keep them but at the end of the day, those decisions are outwith my control.

“If we were to lose some of them, then I would need to look at bringing somebody in. So it’s very dependant on what happens with what we’ve got but at the moment, I’m not looking to bring anyone in.”

The biggest questions for Alloa over the coming month will be the positions of Alistair Roy, Bobby Wales and Taylor Steven.

The three forwards came in on loan at the start of the season from East Kilbride, Kilmarnock and St Johnstone, respectively.

With the January window now open, clubs have the option to recall their loan players, with Alloa hoping to retain the three attackers for the second half of the season.

Graham explained that he was impressed with their efforts so far and that is hope is that they will stay to see out League one at Alloa.

“They’ve all contributed in their own ways,” Graham continued. “Ally came in and he was on fire and he scored four in four.

“He’s done great, it’s just that right now Bobby has that main striker role but that’s what football is all about, the competition side of it and it’s down to the other guys to try to fight their way into the team.

“I’m delighted with all three of them, they’ve brought a lot to the team in different ways. They’re all really good trainers as well.

“The most important thing is hopefully we can keep them beyond January but these decisions are outwith my control a lot of the time as their parent club can make the final call on it.

“We just need to go with whatever decision they make and adapt to that, we’ve got good players in the squad that are more than willing to wait.

“Look at Steven Buchanan last week against Montrose, he came on and was excellent. There are players in that dressing room that are patiently waiting and training well and that might provide them an opportunity for them if one of those loan deals follow through.

“Again, outwith our control and we just wait and see what happens.”
