ALLOA SAINTS rounded off 2023 with a treble as three of their youth squads won their respective cup finals.

The 2011 Purple Squad, 2011 Black Squad and the 2010 squad all won silverware, making this the most successful month in the club’s history.

Up first was the 2011 Purple Squad, who have the distinction of being the first 11-a-side Alloa Saints team to win a competitive trophy.

They dispatched Milton FC 5-3, made all the better for the club when considering the fact that seven of the players came up through the club from the younger squads.

The second cup final was contested between the 2011 Black Squad and Monklands Spades. The 2011s saw off a strong 4-1 victory over Monklands to secure the trophy.

Lastly, a tight contest was played out between Alloa Saints and Kildrum, with the Clacks side edging past their opponents 2-1, coming from behind to earn the cup.

Paul Robertson, chairman for Alloa Saints, was delighted with the three squads for setting a huge milestone in the history of the club.

He said: “The last month of the year and first weekend of the new year has seen Alloa Saints complete a remarkable treble as well as celebrating another brilliant children’s season.

“The continued development of all age groups has been a major plus with a number of teams competing at higher levels following realignment of the leagues.

“The club would like to thank the organisers of the finals, the CFSA, the committee of Clackmannanshire County Cricket Club for the facilities for after match events and Mickey Buns for the buffets.”

Looking ahead to the new year, Alloa Saints have announced three new sponsorship deals for the club.

Ceteris Scotland, based in Alloa, have signed on for a three-year sponsorship deal, which will see the club secure office space at their Whins Road facility in the town.

Allanwater Homes, based in Bridge of Allan, have continued their sponsorship of the club, carrying on five seasons of support.

A new local company, Sports Markings Scotland, owned by Paul himself, have also signed on as new sponsors for the club van.

Paul continued: “With the impending announcement of a third strip sponsor, the club are certainly looking in the right direction, but as is always the case, there is no space for standing still and the club are now on the lookout for several new sponsors for coaches kit supplied by Kit supplier VSN Sports.

“The club would like to express their gratitude to all parents, sponsors and supporters for their efforts and support over the last year.”
