ANDY GRAHAM hopes his side will give Motherwell “a right go” in the next round of the Scottish Cup this weekend.

The Wasps travel to Fir Park to face the Steelmen, with Alloa very much the underdogs in the cup clash.

Alloa will hope to make themselves tough to break down, with the Wasps coming in off the back of an unbeaten run.

Motherwell, meanwhile, have been on a dismal run of form, with only one win in their last 17 fixtures, setting up what could be a tight fourth round meeting between the sides.

Wasps manager Andy Graham is looking forward to the clash, expecting Alloa to give it their best on the day.

He said: “It’s a great opportunity for the boys to go and showcase their talent, whether that’s a young player that’s looking to try and get a move or an experienced player who’s been there and done it.

“It’s a great opportunity to go to a Premier League ground and give it a right go, that’s exactly what we’ll do.

“It’s important that Motherwell, we give it our best shot but the next league game, that’s when we go and look for three points again.”

Alloa progressed through the third round with a tight 2-1 win over Dunbar in November, with goals from Kevin Cawley and Conor Sammon securing their spot in the next round.

This will be Motherwell’s first match of the Scottish Cup this season and will hold home advantage over the travelling Wasps.

Alloa received a big boost in their squad with Luke Donnelly, Jon Robertson, Josh Debayo and Stefan Scougall all featuring on the bench against Queen of the South over the weekend.

Meanwhile up top, Bobby Wales has hit the ground running since scoring his first club goal against Montrose.

Since then, the Kilmarnock loanee has scored three in three, netting consecutive goals against Montrose, Edinburgh City and now Queen of the South.

The youngster will be aiming to extend that to four in four against Motherwell this weekend, with Graham praising Wales and the wider squad for their approach to games.

“I’m delighted for Bobby,” Graham added. “I think I said this way back when he wasn’t scoring I was pleased with his performances.

“Just because he’s scored a goal doesn’t mean he’s played brilliantly today. People from the outside looking in will see three in three and think that’s brilliant.

“I think Bobby was brilliant before that as well, he’s still learning, he’s still got a lot to learn in terms of being a striker but he’s been brilliant for us.

“He’s given us a different dimension and he’s got a great attitude, the players have really enjoyed the way he approached it.

“They all do, it’s harsh singling Bobby out because every one of them, the application that they put in on a Tuesday and Thursday has been nothing short of outstanding.

“That’s what gets you results on a Saturday, they’ve been great. We need to keep building on that. We’re six unbeaten but it means nothing if you go and lose the next game.”
