BOBBY WALES scored the first brace of his senior career, setting Alloa up for a vital 3-2 win over Annan Athletic.

The youngster earned a spot on the scoresheet twice, with his two goals coming within a minute of each other, Taylor Steven scoring the third to put the game to bed.

These two goals are his fifth goals in as many games for Alloa, continuing on a fantastic run of form he has started on.

Speaking to Advertiser Sport, the youngster was delighted with his first brace, lamenting missed chances to make it three.

“It was a good three points,” Wales said. “Much needed after last week’s result.

“We made it a lot harder than we needed to but we got the three points at the end which is what the gaffer kept saying.

“He told us to make sure we don’t lose this and that’s what we did. That was my first brace, I should’ve had about double digits.

“I’m just happy to help the team get three points and for me getting two goals especially.”

Wales made headlines last week as he extended his loan deal with Alloa until the end of the season.

The Kilmarnock loanee missed the Scottish Cup tie with Motherwell, leading many to fear he would be going elsewhere for the tail end of the season.

Rumours circulated that clubs north and south of the border had their eye on Wales, but he made a return to the Recs and committed his season to Alloa.

“I’m delighted to be back,” Wales continued. “I had a few other options but it was the right decision to stay at Alloa.

“I didn’t want to go my full loan without scoring any goals as a striker and that was the main thing for me.

“I’m glad that staying has worked out, I’m really pleased to come back and really happy that the gaffer wanted me back.”
