Clackmannan County First XI continued their outstanding unbeaten league campaign with a comprehensive 103-run victory over Stoneywood Dyce 2 after making the long journey to Aberdeen on Saturday.
Playing in the shadow of Aberdeen International Airport, Clackmannan captain Blair Campbell won the toss and elected to bat first on a hard, grassy wicket in sunny but breezy conditions.
Openers Tariq Mehboob and David McConchie negotiated an excellent opening spell from pace bowler M. Hood to give the visitors a solid platform. Hood made the breakthrough, dismissing Mehboob for 12 to leave Clackmannan 18 for 1.

Arian Gates joined McConchie at the crease, and the pair looked comfortable until McConchie (9) was caught trying to clear the fielder at mid-off. Sai Daddolu then came to the wicket and, after a cautious start, settled superbly alongside Gates. The pair combined elegant strokeplay with energetic running between the wickets to steadily increase the scoring rate.
Gates reached his third league half-century of the season with the score on 130 for 2 in the 27th over, before Daddolu soon followed with his fourth fifty of the campaign.
With both batters well set, Daddolu's excellent innings came to an end on 55 when he was well caught off the bowling of F. Jack. Gates continued to dominate, finding another capable partner in Sunil Gutha as the pair kept the scoreboard moving with intelligent running and powerful boundary hitting.
Gutha was unfortunately run out for 14 with the score on 182 for 3 in the 35th over while attempting to return the strike to Gates. Duncan McConchie added a useful five before becoming F. Jack's second victim.

With just five balls remaining, skipper Campbell joined Gates and immediately worked a single to ensure his teammate retained the strike in pursuit of a deserved maiden century. Gates responded with a magnificent swept six to move to 94 before, after a dot ball, attempting the shot again.
This time he could only feather an edge through to the wicketkeeper, falling agonisingly short of three figures after a superb 94 from just 99 deliveries.
Tom Hutchison joined Campbell for the final delivery, adding two runs to close the innings on 217 for 6 from 40 overs.
Defending a competitive total without their regular opening bowlers, Clackmannan were keen to make early inroads. Sai Daddolu and Tom Hutchison initially found the windy conditions challenging but quickly settled into disciplined spells.
Daddolu was unfortunate not to claim an early wicket, while Hutchison struck first when M. Lambley was safely caught at point by Sunil Gutha.
Stoneywood's N. Nicholas and F. Jack responded positively, punishing anything loose and rotating the strike effectively to move the score to 82 after 15 overs. The introduction of Tariq Mehboob proved decisive as he bowled Jack to break the partnership.
At the opposite end, Campbell extracted impressive turn and bounce from the surface. After Nicholas had reached his half-century, the Clackmannan skipper dismissed him with a delivery that defeated an attempted sweep and crashed into the stumps.
Gates then entered the attack from the airport end and produced a perfect googly to bowl A. Madigan.
Campbell continued to apply relentless pressure, removing P. Thimaiah, who was well caught by First XI debutant Tom Smith at mid-wicket, before dismissing M. Hood two balls later thanks to another sharp catch from Gates.
Gates claimed his second wicket when Hewadmal was trapped lbw without scoring, before Campbell removed his opposite number with a sharply turning delivery that clipped the top of off stump. Campbell's outstanding spell saw him take four wickets in his final four overs while conceding just three runs.
Gates continued to exploit the assistance on offer, claiming a third wicket with Smith taking his second excellent catch of the innings. Smith then rounded off an impressive debut by replacing Campbell in the attack and clean bowling L. Lambley to bring the innings to a close on 114, sealing a convincing 103-run victory for Clackmannan.
Campbell was the standout performer with the ball, returning outstanding figures of 4 for 17 from 8 overs, while Gates produced another excellent spell of 3 for 11 from 5 overs. The remaining wickets were shared by Tom Smith (1 for 7), Tariq Mehboob (1 for 18) and Tom Hutchison (1 for 37).
A special mention goes to First XI debutant Tom Smith, who marked the occasion with two excellent catches before claiming the final wicket of the innings.
The victory extends Clackmannan County's remarkable unbeaten run in SPCU Division 2 to 12 wins from 12 matches, keeping them firmly at the top of the table heading into the final month of the season.
The First XI return to league action next Saturday when they travel to face an in-form Breadalbane side.

2nd XI Outclassed by Strong Forfarshire Side Despite Disciplined Effort
The 2nd XI suffered a heavy 170-run defeat against a strong Forfarshire side on Saturday, but there were still several positives to take from a spirited display at The Arns.
After winning the toss, the home side elected to field first and produced a disciplined bowling performance, conceding just two wides and a single no-ball throughout the innings. However, despite their accuracy and commitment in the field, they were unable to contain a powerful Forfarshire batting line-up.
Behind the stumps, Nick Bryant-Nichols impressed with a sharp catch and a reliable all-round display, while Adarsh Bhardwaj and Sham Shabbir took catches in the field. The wickets were shared among the bowlers, with Shabbir returning the best figures of 1 for 32 from his 6 over spell.

The visitors posted an imposing 271 for 6 from their 40 overs, thanks largely to an outstanding unbeaten century from Ryan Watson, who anchored the innings with 106 not out.
Facing a challenging target, the home side's reply got off to the worst possible start as wickets fell at regular intervals. Abdullah Rana provided the main resistance with a determined 37, while Bryant-Nichols added some late runs with an unbeaten 12 as the innings drew to a close.
Despite those efforts, the 2nd XI were bowled out for 101, handing Forfarshire a comprehensive 170-run victory.
Although the result was disappointing, the match marked a significant milestone for the club with the first use of the new digital scoreboard at The Arns.
This impressive addition was warmly received and represents a welcome enhancement to the facilities at the ground.
The Second XI return to league action on Sunday 9th August with a home fixture against Largo 2 (12pm start).
